Flooring and tile
Laid out before it's laid
Floors, backsplashes and shower walls. Sumit dry-lays every pattern before any thinset is mixed, so a tile line never lands on a cut you didn't choose.
The floor under a kitchen or bath decides how well the tile or plank over it lasts. We look at it before we quote.
What this includes
Floors in tile, vinyl plank or wood, run into the next room if you want
Backsplash tile to the underside of the uppers
Shower walls and floors, waterproofed before they're tiled
Subfloor flattening, priced as its own line

The price
What moves the price
Prep is the part you never see, and the part that shows.
The material
Vinyl plank, hardwood and porcelain tile each have their own cost and install time.
The pattern
Herringbone and diagonal layouts waste more and take longer than straight lay.
The subfloor
A floor that isn't flat needs flattening before tile or plank goes down.
Tile size
Large tile needs flatter floors and more care at every edge.
Waterproofing
Shower walls and floors are waterproofed behind the tile, in layers we show you.
Transitions
Where the new floor meets the old one, a threshold or a run into the next room.
The schedule
How tile and floors go
Each layer waits on the one before it.
- 01After you sign
Step 1: Order
Tile and plank are ordered with a little extra for cuts and breakage.
- 02Start
Step 2: Prep
Floor flattened, walls waterproofed, layout drawn on the floor.

Step 3: Set

- 04End
Step 4: Grout and seal
Grout cures before the room goes back into use.
Permits
Permits for floors and tile
Floors and tile don't need a permit. Waterproofing and any plumbing in a shower are part of the bathroom's work order.
Questions
Flooring and tile questions
Can you tile over my old floor?
Sometimes. It depends on what's under it and how flat it is. We check at the visit.
How long before I can walk on it?
Tile can be walked on the next day and grouted after that. Grout and sealer cure for a few days more.
Do you put in heated floors?
Yes, in bathrooms. It's a separate line on the work order with its own wiring.
Do I need spare tile?
Yes. We order extra for cuts, and you keep a box in case of repairs.
Ready to price a floor?
Text a photo of the room, or ask for a visit.
